Indian Army Boosts Tech Capabilities with Mass Production of Xploder and Agniastra
Indian Army revolutionizes warfare with mass production of Xploder UGV & Agniastra detonation system. Tech transfer marks major leap in modernization.

In a move that underscores its commitment to modernization, the Indian Army has transferred the technology for the mass production of two groundbreaking systems: the Xploder and the Agniastra. Developed by the Army Design Bureau, these innovations represent a significant step forward in the Army’s “Year of Tech Absorption,” showcasing a dedication to integrating cutting-edge technology into its operations. The Transfer of Technology (ToT) process was facilitated by the Foundation of Innovation & Technology Transfer, IIT Delhi.

Xploder: Versatile Unmanned Ground Vehicle

The Xploder, an advanced Unmanned Ground Vehicle (UGV), is set to redefine a range of combat and operational scenarios. Its all-terrain capabilities enable it to carry out unmanned reconnaissance, deliver explosive payloads, and safely dispose of Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs). Additionally, the Xploder’s self-destruct mode and potential for disaster relief operations highlight its versatility and adaptability to diverse situations.

Agniastra: Revolutionizing Remote Detonation

The Agniastra, a Multi-Target Portable Detonation System, represents a significant advancement in remote detonation capabilities. It can target multiple locations from extended ranges, either through manual placement or deployment via UAVs/UGVs. The Agniastra is poised to transform both conventional and counter-terrorism operations, facilitating precise room intervention, bunker demolitions, and large-scale infrastructure destruction.

ToT Ceremony and Future Implications

The ToT ceremony, attended by Vice Chief of The Army Staff Lt Gen NS Rajasubramani, marks a crucial step toward large-scale production and field deployment of these systems. This development not only showcases the Indian Army’s dedication to technological advancement but also highlights the potential of indigenous innovation in bolstering the nation’s defense capabilities.
