The highly anticipated Nissan Magnite facelift is set to make its debut in India on October 4th. This marks the most significant update to the Magnite since its initial launch in 2020. The facelift promises a revamped design, both inside and out, along with a host of new features aimed at enhancing its appeal in the competitive compact SUV segment.
Exterior and Interior Refinements
Spy shots have revealed a refreshed front fascia and rear design, giving the Magnite a more modern and stylish appearance. New alloy wheels will further distinguish the top-spec models, adding a touch of sportiness. Inside the cabin, expect changes to the upholstery, creating a more premium ambiance. Additionally, the inclusion of ambient lighting, a feature currently available in the Kiger but absent in the Magnite, will elevate the overall interior experience. The top-spec versions will continue to offer a comprehensive suite of features, including a digital instrument cluster, a 360-degree camera, wireless charging, power mirrors, and wireless phone mirroring.
Powertrain Options
Under the hood, the Magnite is expected to retain its existing powertrain options. The 1.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, producing 71bhp and 91Nm of torque, will continue to be offered with a choice of a five-speed manual or a five-speed AMT gearbox. Enthusiasts will appreciate the more powerful 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine, generating 99bhp and 152Nm of torque in CVT guise or 160Nm of torque in manual guise.
Future Plans and Market Rivalry
The updates introduced in the new Magnite are expected to eventually find their way into the Kiger, Nissan’s other compact SUV offering, sometime in 2025. This facelift marks the beginning of Nissan’s renewed focus on the Indian market. The recent launch of the X-Trail SUV and the upcoming Magnite facelift signify the brand’s commitment to offering fresh and competitive products. However, the most significant development will be the introduction of two new C-SUVs, one with five seats and the other with seven seats. These SUVs, based on the India-spec Renault Duster and the production-ready version of the Dacia Bigster concept, will represent Nissan and Renault’s joint effort to challenge established players like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara, and Tata Curvv.
The Nissan Magnite facelift promises to be a compelling proposition in the compact SUV segment. With its refreshed design, enhanced features, and proven powertrain options, it is poised to attract a wider range of buyers. As Nissan continues to strengthen its presence in India, the Magnite facelift represents a crucial step in its journey towards greater market share and success.
