A Closer Look at the Specs

Beyond its nostalgic design, the HMD Skyline packs a punch with its features:

  • Immersive Visuals: The phone boasts a 6.55-inch P-OLED display with a crisp 1080×2400 resolution. A 144Hz refresh rate ensures smooth visuals, while a peak brightness of 1,000 nits guarantees vibrant colors even under bright sunlight.
  • Performance & Storage: Under the hood, the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 chipset powers the device. Coupled with 12GB of RAM, users can expect snappy performance for multitasking and demanding applications. A generous 256GB of internal storage provides ample space for photos, videos, and apps.
  • Photography Prowess: The Skyline’s camera setup is designed to capture every moment with clarity. The 108MP main camera, equipped with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), promises sharp images even in low light. A 50MP telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom allows for detailed close-ups, while a 13MP ultrawide lens captures expansive landscapes. Selfie enthusiasts will appreciate the 50MP front-facing camera.
  • Battery & Charging: A robust 4,600mAh battery keeps the device running throughout the day. When it’s time to recharge, 33W wired charging, 15W wireless charging, and 5W reverse wireless charging options provide flexibility and convenience.
  • Software & Updates: The Skyline launches with Android 14, Google’s latest mobile operating system. HMD Global has committed to providing two major Android updates, ensuring the phone will stay current with features and security enhancements up to Android 16.

Initial Impressions

The HMD Skyline’s arrival in India has generated excitement among fans of the brand and those nostalgic for the Lumia era. Its blend of classic design, modern features, and competitive pricing positions it as an intriguing option in the mid-range smartphone segment. Whether it will recapture the magic of Lumia remains to be seen, but the Skyline certainly makes a strong first impression.
