In a significant stride towards the future of mobile communication, China Mobile, in collaboration with Zhongguancun Pan-Institute of Information and Communications Technology, China Information Technology Mobile, and Vivo, has unveiled a 6G baseband prototype system. This advancement underscores the ongoing global pursuit of 6G networks, with China Mobile at the forefront.
Sub-7GHz Frequency Band and Key Features
The 6G baseband prototype operates within the Sub-7GHz frequency band, a critical component of China Mobile’s public testing framework. Aligning with the company’s 6G platform, the prototype emphasizes the integration of sensory, computing, and communications technologies, focusing on synaesthesia and intelligent processing.
Key features of this prototype include:
- High-Speed Data Capabilities: A cloud-based architecture enables data throughput of up to 100 Gbps for container networks, with an ultra-short transmission time interval of 125 microseconds.
- Multi-band Adaptability: A multi-band integrated universal fronthaul module allows the system to adapt to various frequency bands, including low and medium frequencies, millimeter waves, and terahertz signals.
- Advanced Integration: The prototype supports a response delay of less than 10 microseconds, eight data streams, and 128 digital channels. With a single-carrier bandwidth reaching 400MHz, it achieves a real-time throughput of 16.5Gbps.
Interoperability and Future Implications
The 6G baseband prototype is designed for interoperability, ensuring seamless connections between cloud-based hardware and Vivo’s terminal prototypes. This capability supports the transmission of advanced applications such as 3D video, which are expected to be integral to future 6G experiences.
Paving the Way for 6G Connectivity
