Apple Delays Smart Display and HomePod, Emphasizes Smart Home Integration
Apple delays smart display and HomePod launch to late 2025 due to software issues. The A18 chipset powered devices will integrate with a new smart IP camera in 2026, highlighting Apple's focus on the smart home market.

Apple has adjusted its timeline for the release of its highly anticipated smart display and HomePod speaker, according to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. Originally slated for late 2024, then pushed to early 2025, the smart display is now expected to launch in late 2025. This delay is attributed to setbacks in software development.

Apple’s Smart Home Strategy

The smart display is rumored to feature a 6-inch or 7-inch screen and be powered by the A18 chipset, similar to the iPhone 16 series. It’s designed to be a central hub for Apple’s smart home ecosystem, with a focus on Apple Intelligence features.

In addition to the smart display, Apple is reportedly developing a smart IP camera for release in 2026. This camera will integrate seamlessly with the HomePod, further solidifying Apple’s commitment to the smart home market.

Future Smart Home Products

Beyond the smart display and smart IP camera, Apple is reportedly exploring other smart home devices, including a high-end tabletop device with a screen attached to a robotic arm, additional smart home cameras, and even smart TVs. These products are expected to roll out over the next decade, showcasing Apple’s long-term vision for the smart home.

Apple’s strategic shift towards the smart home market signals a new era for the tech giant. By prioritizing seamless integration between its devices and emphasizing intelligent features, Apple aims to create a comprehensive and user-friendly ecosystem that simplifies everyday life. While delays may be frustrating for eager consumers, they also suggest a commitment to delivering a polished and refined product. As Apple expands its smart home offerings in the years to come, the competition in this space is sure to intensify, ultimately benefiting consumers with more innovative and sophisticated solutions for their homes.
