Apple has expanded its rugged smartwatch lineup with the introduction of a Satin Black color variant for the Apple Watch Ultra 2. This smartwatch, originally launched in 2023, is specifically designed for those with active lifestyles and a love for the outdoors. It boasts all the capabilities of the Apple Watch 10, including the innovative Sleep Apnea feature.
Pricing and Availability
The Apple Watch Ultra 2 is exclusively available in a 49mm size. Notably, Apple claims that when paired with the new Trail Loop or Alpine Loop, the device achieves carbon neutrality. Fresh color options have been added for the Alpine Loop (blue, indigo, olive), Trail Loop (orange/beige, green/grey, blue/black), and Ocean Band (blue, orange).
In India, eager buyers can place their orders for the Apple Watch Ultra 2 Satin Black variant starting today, with in-store availability expected from September 20th. The price tag for the Apple Watch Ultra 2 is set at $799 (approximately Rs 67,000).
New Features and Enhancements
Apple has revealed that the striking new Satin Black color is achieved through a “custom blasting process,” and it features a dark zirconia crystal on the back. This stylish color choice is further complemented by a Titanium Milanese Loop band. Additionally, Apple is introducing a Hermes band and watchface named “maritime.”
The Apple Watch Ultra 2 also incorporates the groundbreaking Sleep Apnea feature, first announced with the Apple Watch Series 10. Users will receive notifications about potential sleep apnea, along with a comprehensive report that can be shared with their healthcare provider.
Other features remain consistent with the existing Apple Watch Ultra 2, including a display capable of reaching an impressive 3000 nits of brightness – the brightest ever seen on an Apple Watch. The Apple Watch Ultra 2 is driven by the powerful S9 processor, the same chip found in the Watch Series 9. This processor brings system-wide enhancements and introduces new functionalities like a double-tap gesture and on-device Siri with private health data access and logging capabilities.
The Apple Watch Ultra 2 also boasts a new 4-core Neural Engine, capable of processing machine learning tasks at twice the speed of the original Apple Watch Ultra. According to Apple, the Watch Ultra 2 offers an impressive battery life of up to 36 hours.
Fitness enthusiasts will appreciate the built-in Depth app, which meticulously records each dive session, allowing users to review their recent dives directly on the Apple Watch Ultra or access a complete history with GPS entry points through the Fitness app on their iPhone.
Apple emphasizes that the Watch Ultra 2 is engineered to withstand the harshest environments. It has undergone rigorous testing to endure the widest altitude range of any Apple product, from 500 meters below sea level for deep-sea diving to a staggering 9,000 meters for scaling the highest peaks.
