Apple’s Future HomePods: iPad-like Displays, Robotic Arms, and Apple Intelligence

Apple's Future HomePod
Apple revolutionizes smart homes with rumored HomePods featuring iPad-like displays, robotic arms, and Apple Intelligence. Two models expected: a high-end version with a robotic arm and a more affordable smart home hub.

Whispers of Apple’s forthcoming HomePods have been circulating, painting a picture of a revolutionary smart home device that blends the familiar touch-screen experience of an iPad with the innovative capabilities of a robotic arm and Apple Intelligence. This ambitious endeavor is believed to include two distinct models, each tailored to a different price point. Both versions are anticipated to run on a freshly developed operating system, possibly called homeOS.

High-End Model: A Fusion of iPad and Robotics

The flagship model, codenamed J595, is rumored to boast an iPad-like display mounted on a versatile robotic arm. This unique design would empower users to effortlessly adjust the screen’s position and orientation, thanks to actuators enabling tilting and a complete 360-degree rotation. A built-in camera is also speculated, paving the way for video conferencing through apps like FaceTime and even hands-free interaction via gesture recognition.

The high-end HomePod is projected to carry a hefty price tag of approximately $1000 (roughly Rs 83,000), marking a significant leap from the current HomePod priced at Rs 32,900 in India. Notably, this model is anticipated to be the first HomePod to integrate Apple Intelligence, opening doors for an array of intelligent features and functionalities.

Lower-End Model: A Smarter Home Hub

Details on the lower-end model, codenamed J490, are scarcer. However, reports suggest it will be powered by an A18 chip designed for Apple Intelligence and feature a squarish display. This model is likely intended as a more accessible smart home hub, potentially offering wall-mounting or desktop placement options.

Beyond Smart Speakers: A New Home Ecosystem

Both models are expected to run a suite of familiar apps like Calendar, Notes, and Home, potentially featuring an interface tailored for seamless smart home control and information display. As with existing HomePods, media playback and AirPlay receiver capabilities are likely to be retained, ensuring these devices can serve as versatile entertainment hubs.

Apple’s bold vision for the future of HomePods hints at a dramatic transformation of the smart home landscape. By blending the intuitive touch-screen experience with the power of Apple Intelligence and innovative features like a robotic arm and gesture control, Apple seems poised to redefine the way we interact with our homes.
