Chinese automaker BYD is gearing up to launch its latest electric MPV, the eMAX7, in India on October 8. This new model, which succeeds the E6 MPV, promises an enhanced feature set, a spacious three-row configuration, and an extended driving range, positioning it as a formidable challenger to the popular Toyota Innova range.
Fresh Exterior Design
While retaining the overall MPV silhouette of its predecessor, the eMAX7 introduces a redesigned front fascia, new alloy wheels, and updated taillights, lending it a refreshed appearance.
Luxurious Cabin
Inside, the eMAX7 showcases a tastefully designed cabin with a beige and black color scheme. It boasts premium features like powered front seats, dual digital screens, a power tailgate, and offers both six-seat and seven-seat configurations to accommodate diverse passenger needs.
Enhanced Power and Range
The outgoing e6 model was powered by a 71.7kWh battery pack offering a range of 500km. The eMAX7 receives a marginal upgrade with a 71.8kWh unit, increasing the range to 530km on a single charge. Moreover, the power output has been significantly boosted from 94bhp to 204bhp, while torque has increased from 180Nm to 310Nm, promising improved performance and driving dynamics.
Market Positioning
BYD’s product strategy in India has been diverse. The Atto3 aimed at the Hyundai Tucson segment, while the Seal positioned itself as an aspirational offering. With the eMAX7, BYD is aiming for significant sales volumes. Similar to the outgoing model, it’s expected to attract both private buyers and premium fleet operators like five-star hotels and luxury cab services. The eMAX7’s pricing is anticipated to fall between Rs. 25 lakh and Rs. 33 lakh (Ex-showroom).
