Google Calendar to Sunset Appointment Slots Feature

Google has made a strategic move to enhance the scheduling experience within Google Calendar by discontinuing the appointment slots feature. This change is aimed at migrating users to a more robust and versatile system, known as appointment schedules, which promises to offer greater functionality and flexibility.

Transition to New Scheduling System

The shift from appointment slots to appointment schedules marks a significant upgrade in how users manage their calendars. Google articulated this transition in a recent blog post, stating, “Earlier this year, we announced that the appointment slots feature will be replaced by appointment schedules in Google Calendar. Starting this week, appointment slots booking pages will no longer be available, and all new appointments must be scheduled through appointment schedules.” This move is part of Google’s broader agenda to streamline calendar management and enhance the overall user interface.

Phasing Out Old Features

The discontinuation of the appointment slots feature will be implemented gradually over the coming months. Users who have frequently used appointment slots are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the new appointment schedules feature. This new system supports a wide array of Google accounts, including Google Workspace Business Starter, Business Standard, Business Plus, Enterprise Standard, Enterprise Plus, Education Fundamentals, Education Standard, Education Plus, the Teaching and Learning Upgrade, Nonprofits, Google Workspace Individual, Google One Premium, and personal Google accounts.

As Google Calendar transitions from appointment slots to appointment schedules, users are invited to embrace this change, which aims to provide a more intuitive and flexible scheduling experience. This update reflects Google’s commitment to improving productivity tools and ensuring that both individual users and organizations can manage their time more effectively. By staying informed about these changes and exploring the new features, users can continue to optimize their scheduling practices to better suit their needs.
