HMD Fusion Venom Edition: The Phone You NEED to See

HMD Fusion Venom Edition
HMD Global partners with Sony Pictures to launch a Venom-inspired Fusion smartphone. Expect a bold design, powerful specs, and a release coinciding with the movie premiere.

HMD Global is set to launch a special edition of its Fusion smartphone in collaboration with Sony Pictures’ upcoming film, Venom: The Last Dance. This “Ultimate Symbiotic Phone,” as HMD calls it, is expected to feature design elements inspired by the movie, while retaining the core specifications of the original Fusion.

Design

The HMD Fusion Venom edition may sport a new aesthetic, possibly incorporating a darker color scheme to reflect the Venom symbiote. The teaser video hints at this possibility, showing the symbiote enveloping the phone. It’s also possible that the special edition will include exclusive wallpapers and accessories. HMD may carry over the Fusion’s modular design with its unique flashlight module, 5W wireless charging module, and interchangeable cases. The Gen2 repairability and open-source Fusion Kit could also be retained, allowing for easy component replacement and customization.

Specifications

The Venom edition is anticipated to have similar specifications to the standard Fusion model:

  • Display: A 6.56-inch HD+ 90Hz LCD with 600 nits peak brightness.
  • Processor: A 4nm Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 processor with performance cores clocked at 2.2GHz.
  • Cameras: A 108MP main camera with a 2MP depth sensor, and a 50MP front camera.
  • Battery: A 5,000mAh battery with 33W fast charging.
  • Memory: RAM and storage options are yet to be confirmed, but the original Fusion offers configurations with 4/6/8GB of RAM and 128/256GB of storage.
  • Connectivity: Bluetooth 5.1, Wi-Fi 6, and USB-C 2.0.
  • Software: Near-stock Android 14 with a promised 2 years of OS upgrades.

Release

While the exact release date is unknown, the HMD Fusion Venom edition is expected to launch around the film’s release on October 25th.

The HMD Fusion Venom edition offers a unique opportunity for fans of the franchise to own a smartphone inspired by their favorite anti-hero. With its potential design refresh and powerful specifications, the Fusion Venom edition is poised to capture the attention of both movie enthusiasts and tech-savvy consumers.
