HMD Global is set to launch a special edition of its Fusion smartphone in collaboration with Sony Pictures’ upcoming film, Venom: The Last Dance. This “Ultimate Symbiotic Phone,” as HMD calls it, is expected to feature design elements inspired by the movie, while retaining the core specifications of the original Fusion.
Design
The HMD Fusion Venom edition may sport a new aesthetic, possibly incorporating a darker color scheme to reflect the Venom symbiote. The teaser video hints at this possibility, showing the symbiote enveloping the phone. It’s also possible that the special edition will include exclusive wallpapers and accessories. HMD may carry over the Fusion’s modular design with its unique flashlight module, 5W wireless charging module, and interchangeable cases. The Gen2 repairability and open-source Fusion Kit could also be retained, allowing for easy component replacement and customization.
Specifications
The Venom edition is anticipated to have similar specifications to the standard Fusion model:
- Display: A 6.56-inch HD+ 90Hz LCD with 600 nits peak brightness.
- Processor: A 4nm Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 processor with performance cores clocked at 2.2GHz.
- Cameras: A 108MP main camera with a 2MP depth sensor, and a 50MP front camera.
