The much-anticipated iPhone 16 series has officially launched in India, and is available for purchase starting today. The lineup comprises the iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max. These can be purchased online through Apple.com as well as leading e-commerce platforms, and in physical stores at Apple Stores and authorized retailers.
Pricing and Launch Offers
The iPhone 16 series starts at a price of Rs 79,900 (exclusive of offers). While Apple.com itself isn’t offering any direct bank discounts, attractive offers can be found when purchasing through other online retailers like Flipkart, Amazon, Croma, Vijay Sales, and Reliance Digital. These include instant discounts of up to Rs 5,000 with select bank cards, and trade-in discounts for older Android and Apple phones.
Should You Buy an iPhone 16?
The standard iPhone 16 boasts a faster and more efficient 3nm Apple A18 chipset, a tougher Ceramic Shield front, a lighter build, new colors and finishes, vertical camera lenses for spatial photo/video, iOS 18, customizable Photographic Styles, more RAM, faster charging, Wi-Fi 7 support, a Camera Control feature, an Action Button, improved battery life, and eventual support for Apple Intelligence (not yet available). However, it retains a 60Hz display.
The iPhone 16 Plus offers a larger display and extended battery life compared to the regular iPhone 16, with other improvements remaining similar.
The iPhone 16 Pro features a slightly larger display with enhanced screen protection, a more powerful A18 Pro processor, 4K120 video recording capabilities, a 5x optical zoom camera, and other enhancements similar to the standard iPhone 16.
The iPhone 16 Pro Max provides the largest display in the series (6.9 inches) and a bigger battery compared to the smaller Pro model, along with the aforementioned improvements.
These upgrades represent iterative enhancements over their predecessors, potentially making them less compelling for existing iPhone 15 series users. However, users with older iPhones will find numerous new features, design changes, improved camera capabilities, and enhanced performance in the new models.
For those considering Android alternatives, options include the Samsung Galaxy S24 series, Google Pixel 9 series, ASUS ROG Phone 8 Pro, and foldable phones like the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, Galaxy Z Flip 6, and OnePlus Open 2.
