Own the First-Ever Mahindra Thar Roxx
Get ready to bid on the first-ever Mahindra Thar Roxx! Auction starts Sept 12th. Proceeds go to charity. Learn more about this exciting opportunity now.

Mahindra recently launched the all-new Thar Roxx on August 15th of this year, with bookings set to open on October 3rd. To build excitement, Mahindra has announced that the very first Thar Roxx produced will be auctioned off, with proceeds going to a charitable cause.

The highly anticipated auction will start on September 12th. Mahindra had previously done something similar with the 3-door Thar, which fetched a remarkable winning bid of 1.1 Crore. Akash Minda from Delhi acquired the first-ever Thar (LX petrol automatic) for this impressive sum. Back then, the three-door model garnered over 5,500 bids from more than 500 locations within the country.

VIN 001 Thar Roxx: What We Know

Similar to the first 3-door unit, the VIN 001 Roxx is likely based on the top-spec variant. While details are still unclear, it might feature bespoke cosmetic enhancements like #1 badges. Mahindra is known for equipping Thars, both 3-door and 5-door, with metal plates inside the cabins displaying VIN numbers and the phrase “Made in India with pride.” Reports also suggest that the company might offer the VIN 001 Thar Roxx with color and powertrain options chosen by the winning bidder.

Thar Roxx: A Quick Overview

The Thar Roxx comes in 7 colors: Stealth Black, Burnt Sienna, Deep Forest, Battleship Grey, Nebula Blue, Tango Red, and Everest White. It boasts significant restyling and dimensional changes compared to its 3-door counterpart. It is taller, wider, and longer, with a considerably longer wheelbase. The changes go beyond just the addition of two doors.

The Roxx is built on Mahindra’s new-age M-GLYDE platform, an improved version of the Scorpio N chassis. Key design highlights include LED headlamps with integrated DRLs, a new 6-slat grille, modified wheel arches, a new roofline, redesigned C and D pillars, a reworked tail, and new 19-inch wheels. Unlike the 3-door, the Roxx features an all-metallic body.

The interior prioritizes comfort and luxury. The base variant gets a dark color scheme, while higher trims offer White cabin color options. Top-spec features include the segment’s largest panoramic sunroof, wireless charger, 10.25-inch touchscreen, digital instrument cluster, automatic AC, 360-degree camera, and ventilated seats. The vehicle also comes with a range of safety features and level 2 ADAS.

At launch, the Thar Roxx is available with two familiar powertrains: the 2.2 mHawk diesel engine and the 2.0 mStallion turbocharged petrol engine. These engines are also found in other models like the Scorpio N and Thar 3-door, but they have different states of tune in the Roxx.

The diesel engine produces up to 173 bhp and 370 Nm of torque, with transmission options including a 6-speed manual and 6AT. The 2.0-liter mStallion Turbo Petrol Direct Injection (TGDi) engine generates 175 bhp and 380 Nm, also available with both manual and automatic gearboxes. AWD is optional and offered only on select variants.

The Roxx features a carefully engineered suspension setup incorporating technologies like FDD, delivering excellent ride quality and body control. The SUV has also been certified by ARAI to achieve mileage figures of up to 12.4 kpl in the petrol manual form and 15.20 km/l in the diesel variant.

Mahindra has strategically priced and positioned the Roxx, offering various variants and trims to bridge the price gap between C-SUVs and entry-level Scorpio N rivals. The Roxx has introductory ex-showroom prices ranging from Rs 12.99-20.49 lakh for its 4×2 variants. Prices for 4×4 trims are yet to be announced. The SUV has started arriving at dealerships, with deliveries expected to begin in October during Vijayadashami.
