Samsung Galaxy A56 Geekbench results reveal impressive performance powered by Exynos 1580. Leaked specs hint at Android 15, upgraded GPU, and more.

The rumor mill is churning with exciting news about Samsung’s upcoming mid-range contender, the Samsung Galaxy A56. A recent Geekbench listing has shed light on key aspects of the device, offering a tantalizing glimpse into its performance capabilities and software features. This leak confirms earlier speculations and provides concrete evidence of the phone’s impressive specifications.

A New Era of Performance for the A-Series

The Geekbench results paint a promising picture for the Samsung Galaxy A56. The device, identified by the model number SM-A566B, which points to a global release, achieved a single-core score of 1,341 and a multi-core score of 3,836. These figures represent a significant leap forward compared to its predecessor, the Galaxy A55, which housed the Exynos 1480 and managed scores of 1,148 and 3,447 in the same tests. This jump in performance can be attributed to the Exynos 1580, a new chipset poised to redefine the mid-range segment.

Exynos 1580: A Mid-Range Powerhouse

Codenamed Santa (model number S5E8855), the Exynos 1580 is generating considerable buzz. Early reports suggest it could rival, or even surpass, the performance of Qualcomm’s flagship Snapdragon 888 from 2021, a chip found in premium devices like the Samsung Galaxy S21. This claim is further substantiated by the leaked Geekbench scores, where the Exynos 1580 outperforms the Galaxy S21’s scores of 896 (single-core) and 3,254 (multi-core).

Delving deeper into the Exynos 1580’s architecture reveals a configuration designed for both power and efficiency. It features a prime Cortex-A720 core clocked at 2.91 GHz, three performance cores (also Cortex-A720) running at 2.60 GHz, and four Cortex-A520 efficiency cores operating at 1.95 GHz. This setup marks a departure from the Exynos 1480’s reliance on Cortex-A78 and Cortex-A55 cores.

Software Advancements and Graphics Prowess

The Geekbench listing also confirms that the Samsung Galaxy A56 will run on Android 15 with Samsung’s One UI 7.0. This is particularly noteworthy as Samsung has yet to officially announce this Android update, suggesting that the Galaxy A56 could be among the first devices to launch with the latest Android version.

Furthermore, the listing hints at the inclusion of an Xclipse 540 GPU. This GPU, potentially based on the RDNA 3 architecture, promises a significant boost in graphics performance compared to its predecessor. Coupled with an upgraded NPU for enhanced AI capabilities, the Galaxy A56 is shaping up to be a multimedia powerhouse.

Memory, Availability, and Expectations

The Samsung Galaxy A56 tested on Geekbench was equipped with 8GB of RAM. However, drawing parallels with the Galaxy A55, which is offered with 8GB and 12GB RAM options in markets like India, it is reasonable to expect that the Galaxy A56 will also be available in multiple memory configurations to cater to different user needs.

Although Samsung has remained tight-lipped about the official launch date, the Galaxy A55 5G made its debut in March 2024. If Samsung follows a similar release cycle, we can anticipate the arrival of the Galaxy A56 in the first quarter of 2025. In the lead-up to the launch, we expect more leaks and official teasers to surface, providing further details about the design, camera system, and other features of this highly anticipated mid-range smartphone.
