Samsung Galaxy S25 & S25+ Charging Speeds: No Upgrades in Sight

Samsung Galaxy S25 & S25+
Recent certifications reveal that the Samsung Galaxy S25 and S25+ will not see any upgrades in charging speeds, maintaining the 25W and 45W capabilities of their predecessors. This stagnation puts Samsung behind competitors in fast-charging technology.

Recent certifications from the China Compulsory Certification (CCC) authority have shed light on the charging capabilities of Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S25 and S25+ smartphones. While the top-tier Galaxy S25 Ultra is set to feature an impressive 45W wired charging, it appears that the base Galaxy S25 and S25+ will not see any upgrades in this department.

Maintaining the Status Quo

The certification documents reveal that the Galaxy S25 will support up to 25W fast charging, while the Galaxy S25+ will offer up to 45W charging. This aligns with the charging speeds of their predecessors, the Galaxy S24 and S24+, respectively. Both new models are expected to continue supporting USB PD charging with the Programmable Power Supply (PPS) feature. This technology provides finer control over the charging process and helps to maintain optimal temperatures compared to standard USB PD.

Falling Behind the Competition

The decision to retain the existing charging speeds for the Galaxy S25 and S25+ is somewhat disappointing, given the rapid advancements in charging technology seen in the Android ecosystem and even within Apple’s iPhone lineup. By early 2025, it’s anticipated that the new iPhones will offer faster charging speeds than the base Galaxy S25, which is limited to 25W. This stagnation in charging capabilities could put Samsung at a disadvantage, especially as consumers increasingly value fast and efficient charging solutions.

Potential Implications

While the Galaxy S25 and S25+ are expected to excel in other areas, the lack of charging upgrades could be perceived as a missed opportunity for Samsung to further enhance the user experience. Fast charging has become a key differentiator in the smartphone market, and consumers may be hesitant to choose a device that lags behind its competitors in this aspect. It remains to be seen how this decision will impact the overall reception of the Galaxy S25 series upon its release.

Despite the lack of charging upgrades in the upcoming models, Samsung is likely to continue investing in fast-charging technologies for future iterations of its flagship smartphones. As the demand for faster and more convenient charging solutions grows, Samsung will need to innovate and push the boundaries to remain competitive in the ever-evolving smartphone landscape
