The first renders of the highly anticipated Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 have surfaced, showcasing significant design changes that align with recent trends in the foldable smartphone market. These leaked images suggest that Samsung is preparing to offer a more refined and user-friendly design compared to its predecessors.
Key Design Changes
The Galaxy Z Fold 6 renders reveal a shift towards a boxier design with sharper corners and flat edges, resembling the recently launched Galaxy S24 Ultra. This change marks a departure from the rounded edges seen in previous models, giving the new foldable a more modern and sleek appearance. The device measures 153.5 x 132.5 x 6.1 mm when unfolded, making it slightly shorter and wider than the Galaxy Z Fold 5. This adjustment is expected to improve the overall handling and usability of the device.
Display and Build
The Galaxy Z Fold 6 is set to feature a 6.2-inch Dynamic AMOLED cover display and a 7.6-inch foldable Dynamic AMOLED inner display, both supporting a 120Hz refresh rate. The cover display will be protected by Corning Gorilla Glass, while the inner display will utilize ultra-thin glass, promising durability and high peak brightness up to 2600 nits.
Camera and Other Features
The leaked renders also highlight the rear camera setup, which appears to remain largely unchanged from the Galaxy Z Fold 5. The device will sport a triple camera system with a 50MP primary sensor, a 12MP ultrawide sensor, and a 10MP telephoto sensor. Additionally, the front cover display will house a 10MP selfie camera, and the foldable screen will feature a 4MP under-display camera.
Performance and Software
Under the hood, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 is expected to be powered by the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, paired with up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of UFS 4.0 storage. The device will run on One UI 6.1.1 based on Android 14 and is projected to receive seven major OS updates along with seven years of security updates.
Anticipated Launch
Samsung is likely to unveil the Galaxy Z Fold 6 in the second half of 2024, possibly around July. As more information becomes available, it is expected that Samsung will officially confirm the specifications and pricing details closer to the launch date.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6’s new design with sharper corners and a boxier frame represents a significant update aimed at enhancing user experience and device aesthetics. With improved displays, robust performance capabilities, and the latest software, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 is set to be a compelling choice for those seeking a premium foldable smartphone.
