Samsung Halts Galaxy S23 Ultra Update, Expands One UI 6.1.1 to Other Devices
Samsung pauses One UI 6.1.1 rollout for Galaxy S23 Ultra due to camera issues. Meanwhile, Galaxy S22 series, Z Fold 4, Z Flip 4, and Tab S8 receive the update with new AI features and September 2024 security patch.

In a move to ensure optimal user experience, Samsung has temporarily paused the rollout of the highly anticipated One UI 6.1.1 update for its flagship Galaxy S23 Ultra. The decision stems from reports of camera-related issues, particularly concerning ghosting artifacts when utilizing the zoom function. The update, which was initially launched in South Korea with plans for a broader global release, has been put on hold while Samsung investigates and addresses the reported concerns. The company has acknowledged the issue and is actively working on a solution to rectify the camera performance.

While the S23 Ultra’s update is temporarily delayed, several other Samsung devices are now receiving the One UI 6.1.1 update. These include the Galaxy S22 series, the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Z Flip 4 foldable smartphones, and the Galaxy Tab S8 tablet lineup. This update brings a host of improvements and enhancements, including the latest September 2024 Android security patch, updates to Samsung’s native applications, and a suite of exciting new AI-powered features.

One of the highlights of One UI 6.1.1 is the introduction of several AI features that were initially showcased on the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6. These features leverage artificial intelligence to streamline tasks, enhance productivity, and offer a more intuitive user experience.

  • AI Chat Assist: This feature acts as a virtual assistant, helping users draft emails, social media posts, and other text content using simple prompts.
  • Note Assist: Designed to enhance note-taking, this feature can record audio, transcribe spoken words, and even summarize key points.
  • Suggested Replies: When connected to a Galaxy Watch 7, this feature offers contextually relevant quick replies directly from the user’s wrist.
  • Sketch to Image: Unleashing creativity, this feature transforms sketches, doodles, and drawings into refined images.
  • PDF Overlay Translation: Breaking down language barriers, this tool translates and overlays text directly onto PDF files.
  • Circle to Search: This intuitive feature allows users to circle a specific area on the screen to trigger an instant search related to the circled content.
  • Portrait Studio: Elevating photography, this feature enables the creation of a diverse range of portraits, including captivating 3D styles.

Samsung’s proactive response to the camera concerns and its commitment to delivering a polished user experience highlight its dedication to customer satisfaction. Meanwhile, the expansion of the One UI 6.1.1 update to a broader range of devices ensures that more users can enjoy the latest features and enhancements, further enriching their Samsung experience.
