Barely a month after the successful launch of the new-gen Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6, Samsung is gearing up to push the boundaries of foldable technology even further. The South Korean tech giant is reportedly set to unveil a slimmer, more premium variant of the Z Fold 6 by the end of September. Dubbed the “Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition”, this device is not only expected to boast a refined design but might also become the most expensive foldable smartphone in the market.
Leak Reveals a Sleek Profile
Reputable tipster Evan Blass recently shared insights into the dimensions of the upcoming device. The “Special Edition” will reportedly retain the same display sizes as its predecessor, with a 6.5-inch cover display and an 8.0-inch main foldable display. However, it is in the thickness department that the new model is set to truly shine. When folded, the device is expected to measure a mere 10.6mm thick, a significant reduction from the 12.1mm of the standard Z Fold 6. When unfolded, the device is rumored to be an impressively thin 4.9mm, compared to the 5.6mm of the original.
Slim Design Comes with Trade-offs
While the slimmer profile is undeniably attractive, it might come with certain compromises. There are whispers that some features might be sacrificed to achieve the sleek design. Moreover, rumors suggest that the “Special Edition” might have limited availability, possibly restricted to South Korea and China. This could be attributed to the anticipated high price tag of the device, speculated to be around Rs. 1,76,000, placing it in the same price bracket as the Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold.
Anticipation Builds for Official Announcement
As of now, many details about the Galaxy Z Fold 6 “Special Edition” remain shrouded in mystery. The full extent of its specifications, features, and availability is yet to be officially confirmed by Samsung. The tech community is eagerly awaiting further announcements, particularly regarding the rumored September 25th launch date. If the leaks and rumors prove accurate, Samsung’s upcoming foldable could redefine the standards of luxury and innovation in the smartphone market.
