Sennheiser Unveils the MD 421 Kompakt Microphone: A Compact Powerhouse for Live Sound and Recording
Sennheiser launches the MD 421 Kompakt, a compact and versatile microphone ideal for live sound and recording. Features a cardioid pickup pattern, high SPL handling, and a redesigned mounting clip.

Sennheiser, a renowned name in audio technology, has introduced the MD 421 Kompakt Microphone, a versatile tool designed for both live sound and recording applications. Building on the legacy of the iconic MD 421, this new iteration delivers exceptional audio quality in a compact and robust design.

A Legacy of Excellence, Redefined

The MD 421 has been a staple in the music industry for over six decades, contributing to countless recordings and live performances. The MD 421 Kompakt carries forward this tradition, offering the same renowned sound quality in a more streamlined form factor.

Compact Design, Uncompromising Sound

One of the key highlights of the MD 421 Kompakt is its compact size. Sennheiser achieved this by removing the bass roll-off switch, a feature deemed redundant with the advent of advanced mixing desks and DAWs. This design choice allows the MD 421 Kompakt to accommodate a large-diaphragm capsule while maintaining a smaller overall footprint.

Despite its compact dimensions, the MD 421 Kompakt boasts a frequency response of 30 Hz to 17 kHz, ensuring accurate reproduction of both high and low frequencies. The inclusion of a bass tube further enhances low-end accuracy. The microphone excels in capturing audio with clarity, detail, and richness, making it suitable for a wide range of sound sources.

Enhanced Versatility

The MD 421 Kompakt features a cardioid pickup pattern, effectively minimizing feedback and allowing it to handle high sound pressure levels (SPL). This makes it an ideal choice for demanding environments, from recording studios to live stages.

Redesigned Mounting Clip

Sennheiser has addressed a common user concern by completely redesigning the mounting clip. The new clip is integrated into the microphone housing, ensuring secure and hassle-free mounting. An optional drum clamp further enhances its versatility for drum miking applications.

Rugged and Reliable

Built for durability, the MD 421 Kompakt features a rugged frame with a stainless-steel basket and a gold-plated XLR-3 connector. An internal protective chassis safeguards the microphone from dust and humidity, ensuring reliable performance even in challenging conditions.

Pricing and Availability

The MD 421 Kompakt is now available at a MRP of INR 26,188. A dedicated drum version, bundled with an MZH drum clamp, is also available for INR 28,065. The MZH drum clamp can be purchased separately for INR 1783. The microphone can be found through authorized Sennheiser dealers across India and will soon be available on e-commerce platforms. Sennheiser has confirmed that the MD 421-II will continue to be offered alongside the new MD 421 Kompakt.
