Skoda Kylaq Spotted Testing Again: Sunroof and More Revealed

Skoda Kylaq Spotted Testing Again
New spy shots reveal Skoda Kylaq's sunroof, red paint, and hints of taillight design. This sub-four-metre SUV, powered by a 1.0L TSI engine, gears up to challenge rivals like Hyundai Venue and Tata Nexon.

The anticipation for Skoda’s upcoming sub-four-metre SUV, the Kylaq, continues to build as new spy shots surface, providing further glimpses into its features and design elements. Following the recent announcement of its name, the Kylaq is gearing up to enter one of India’s most fiercely contested automotive segments early next year.

Sunroof and Styling Highlights:

Among the latest revelations is the confirmation of a single-pane electric sunroof, a feature that’s becoming increasingly popular in this category. The Kylaq was also spotted sporting a vibrant red paint scheme, suggesting a range of color options for buyers. The rear design hints at clear lens taillights, adding a touch of sophistication. Other noticeable exterior elements include roof rails, a shark-fin antenna, slightly raked C-pillars, and a tailgate-mounted number plate holder. These details complement the previously teased split headlamp design, new LED DRLs, and inverted L-shaped LED taillights, showcasing a modern and stylish aesthetic.

Platform, Powertrain, and the Competition:

Underpinned by the versatile MQB-A0-IN platform, shared with the Skoda Slavia and Kushaq, the Kylaq is expected to prioritize fuel efficiency and affordability. It’s likely to be offered exclusively with a 1.0-litre, three-cylinder, TSI petrol engine, generating 114bhp and 178Nm of torque. This engine is expected to be paired with either a six-speed manual or a torque converter automatic transmission, catering to different driving preferences.

Upon its launch, the Kylaq will face stiff competition from a host of established rivals, including the Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, Renault Kiger, Kia Sonet, Nissan Magnite, Mahindra XUV300, and the Maruti Brezza. Each of these models has carved its niche in the market, making the Kylaq’s entry all the more challenging.

The Skoda Kylaq is shaping up to be a compelling contender in the sub-four-metre SUV space. The latest spy shots, coupled with earlier teasers, paint a picture of a well-equipped and stylish offering. However, the true test lies in how it performs on the road and whether it can carve out a distinct identity in a crowded market. With its official debut drawing closer, automotive enthusiasts and potential buyers eagerly await further details and the opportunity to experience the Kylaq firsthand.
