Tata Motors is set to unveil its newest electric vehicle (EV), the Tata Curvv EV, with a splash of color. The SUV-coupe will be available in five distinct monotone shades: Pristine White, Flame Red, Empowered Oxide, Pure Grey, and Virtual Sunrise. Three of these colors, Flame Red, Empowered Oxide, and Pristine White, are already featured on the Tata Nexon EV.
A Monotone Palette and Variant-Specific Options
While the Curvv EV offers a variety of colors, it will not be available in dual-tone finishes. Instead, Tata Motors has opted to align color options with different variants, or “personas,” similar to the approach taken with the Nexon EV. This strategy allows for a more personalized experience for buyers, tailoring the vehicle’s appearance to individual preferences.
Features and Safety: A Focus on Technology and Security
The Curvv EV promises to be a tech-savvy and safe vehicle, boasting a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, and front ventilated seats. In terms of safety, the EV is expected to include up to six airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), a 360-degree camera, and a suite of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS). These ADAS features may include adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, and forward collision warning, enhancing the overall safety of the vehicle.
Powertrain and Range: A Promising Electric Performance
Although specific details about the electric powertrain have not been released, the Curvv EV is anticipated to offer two battery pack options, both with a claimed range exceeding 500 km. Built on Tata’s latest Gen 2 EV architecture, the Curvv EV is also likely to feature V2L (vehicle-to-load) and V2V (vehicle-to-vehicle) charging capabilities, adding to its versatility and appeal.
Price and Competition: A Flagship EV with Strong Rivals
The Tata Curvv EV is projected to start at Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom) and will serve as Tata Motors’ flagship electric vehicle. It is expected to face competition from the MG ZS EV, the upcoming Hyundai Creta EV, and the Maruti eVX. Despite the rivalry, the Curvv EV’s unique blend of style, features, and potential performance positions it as a strong contender in the growing Indian EV market.
