Vivo has unveiled a new image sensor developed in collaboration with Sony, the LYT-818, during the launch event for its X200 series smartphones. This new sensor promises significant advancements in mobile photography, particularly in noise reduction and dynamic range.
Technical Specifications
The LYT-818 is fabricated using a 22nm process, measures 1/1.28 inches, and boasts a 50MP resolution. It supports True-TCG HDR+ and VCS 3.0 technologies, contributing to an 86dB single-frame HDR and a 0.95e- signal-to-noise ratio. Additionally, the sensor enables real-time HDR preview.
Performance and Marketing
Vivo claims the LYT-818 offers a 52.5% improvement in noise reduction compared to the Sony IMX989, a sensor found in many current flagship smartphones. The company is promoting the new sensor with the tagline “Photography is an inch better, and video is an inch better,” highlighting its potential to enhance both still photography and videography.
Vivo X200 Series
The LYT-818 will debut in the Vivo X200 series. While detailed specifications of the X200 series remain scarce, the integration of this advanced sensor suggests a strong focus on camera capabilities.
The launch event is ongoing, and further information about the Vivo X200 series and the LYT-818 is anticipated.
